Q) What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
A)"Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an approach that derives from the most recent research on how the mind works. It involves an active relationship between client and therapist where the client is skilfully guided to find the underlying cause of their problem, and assisted in restructuring their unconscious so that the problem disappears. Cognitive Hypnotherapy draws on techniques from NLP, Cognitive Therapy, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, and research from Psychoneuroimmunology, Evolutionary Psychology, and Neuroscience. This is assimilated within the outstanding approaches of the most effective Hypnotherapists of the last 50 years, including Erickson, Elman, and Boyne."

Q) What is hypnosis?
A) Hypnosis is a narrowing of attention. By closing the eyes the client's attention can be focused and guided to new learnings that otherwise may go unnoticed thereby changing the client's perception.
Q) What is a Trance State?
A) It is said that we are only fully consciously in the here and now for 10% of the time. For the other 90% we are in a Trance State of one form or another. Have you ever been driving you car and suddenly realised you remember nothing about the last 5 miles? That was a trance state which included amnesia. Daydreaming is another trance state - positive hallucination. Ever been engaged in an activity where time seemed to stand still? This trance state included time distortion. Have you ever been in a situation and it seems as if you've moved outside of you body, being a spectator as you watch yourself - that's disassociation another trance state. We enter into trance states all the time. They are a natural part of being human.
Q) I am in control?
A) Always. There may be times when you don't consciously remember everything being said to you but you are aware that you are able to open you eyes any time you choose. Some people won't accept they've been hypnotised because they remember everything that happened and you cannot be made to do anything you don't want to.
Q) How long will it take?
A) Every individual is different and so will be the time taken to resolve any given issue. However, the intention is to achieve a resolution in as few sessions as possible. The first session will be a history take and the second will be the start of the treatment.
Q) What will happen?
A) The initial session consists of taking a detailed history of the presenting issue and includes an introduction to hypnosis thereby giving you an oppertunity to enjoy the relaxing trance state before committing to anything. This session can take up to one and a half hours. After the first session, I will create an individual hypnotic wordweaving script just for you which we'll use in the second session. The third session is an oppertunity to calobrate the changes and reforce the changes.
Q) How much will it cost?
A) The first three sessions will cost £100. Additional sessions are charged at £40 per session.
Q) How long do appointments last?
A) Most sessions are in the 45 - 60 minutes range although some may go on for a couple of hours. The situation and process dictates the length of the session not the clock. Unlike some, we do not stop in the middle of a process because the hour is up.
