Research in America has shown that whenever there is a high profile suicide reported in the media, the national suicide rate also goes up, reaches a peak after four days and takes ten days to return back in normal. When Marilyn Monroe died the suicide rate in America went up and amazing 12%.
This research also showed the number of car fatalities increased in a similar manner following a story of suicide.
Even more worrying was that when the media covered a story of a murder whereby the murderer then committed suicide, the number of car fatalities where the driver and passenger were killed went up. Worrying isn’t it?
